Specialist Intervention Lessons
It's easy for an individual child to get lost in a traditional classroom setting, where class sizes can sometimes exceed 30 children. For that reason, we work on a one-to-one basis to provide specialist intervention in Maths, English and Sciences.
Specialist tutors work to the student’s learning strengths in order to provide techniques so that they can successfully access the curriculum
Individual Tuition Tailored To Each Child’s Needs
All Specialist Teachers who work with us are qualified to teach children identified with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, ADHD and dyscalculia
The Specialist Teachers we work with all have their OCR Level 5 specialist certificates, or equivalent Masters in Special Needs, as well as many years of teaching experience
Many of the Specialist Teachers have been working with us for over 25 years
All Specialist Teachers are DBS checked, have safeguarding certificates and public liability insurance
Lessons can be in Maths, English, Sciences Study & Revision Skills, Handwriting or Touch-Typing
One-to-one lessons are either carried out at the Specialist Teacher’s homes, at The Hampstead Dyslexia Clinic or online
Specialist support is also offered during the school day at schools across North London (subject to school permission)
There is always a one-off trial lesson and this helps the student, the parent and the specialist build an initial rapport and to make sure all parties are happy to continue moving forward
Thereafter, lessons are usually during term time on a weekly basis, after school or at the weekend
Lessons are either 45 mins or 1 hour in duration, depending on each child’s needs
Holiday tuition sessions can be offered for overseas students and those who wish to focus on a particular area of concern, e.g. handwriting
Fun specialist lessons that foster a love for learning
In English we use a host of resources, games, computer programmes, including the Alpha to Omega system of teaching, in order to engage the student
Our multi-sensory teaching system uses visual, oral, tactile and kinaesthetic strategies to incorporate all learning styles
In Maths we use computer programmes, Stern's Structural Arithmetic System, Numicon and games and activities
